Senior finance leadership, without the full-time hire.
Fractional Finance Director and CFO support for businesses between £1m and £10m. Board-level experience from PwC Deals and an operating FD seat, at a fraction of the cost of the equivalent hire.
From one day a month. Scope agreed before anything starts.
What you get
The finance function a business your size needs, run by someone who has done it in the seat.
Monthly management accounts and board pack
A pack that explains the month rather than restating it: margin, variance to budget, the numbers that moved and why they moved.
Rolling cashflow forecast
Maintained continuously, not rebuilt in a panic. You see the pinch points far enough ahead to do something about them.
Budgeting and scenario modelling
An annual budget you can hold people to, and models that answer the specific question in front of you before you commit capital to it.
Board attendance
Present at the meeting to take the finance questions directly, from the board, investors, or lenders.
Fundraising and transaction support
Preparing the numbers for diligence, building the model behind the raise, and standing behind both when they are challenged.
Advisory pedigree and operator credibility
Most fractional finance people have one or the other. The useful ones have both.
PwC Deals
Mid-market M&A: modelling, diligence and the scrutiny that comes with a live transaction. The advisory pedigree behind the work.
Finance Director
Operating experience running the finance function of an e-commerce company, accountable for the forecast rather than just reviewing it.
ACCA qualified, fifteen years
The technical grounding under both, and the reason the reporting stands up when someone outside the business examines it.
How engagements are shaped
Two ways in. Both scoped before they start, so you know the cost before you commit.
Monthly retainer
Priced on scope
A fixed monthly commitment covering the management accounts, board pack and rolling forecast, with your dedicated contact reachable between the cycles rather than only at the meeting.
- From one day a month
- Fixed fee, agreed up front
- Board attendance included
Day rate
From £500 per day
For defined pieces of work: a raise, a diligence process, a budget cycle, or a model that needs building properly once. Scoped before it starts.
- Project scoped up front
- No ongoing commitment
- Converts to retainer if it suits
Questions we are usually asked first
How much time does a fractional FD actually need?
Most engagements at this size start at one day a month and settle between one and three, depending on reporting cycle, board cadence and whether a transaction is running. We would rather start narrow and expand than sell you time you do not need.
How is this different from my accountant?
Compliance work tells you what has already happened. This is the layer above it: the forecast, the budget, the board conversation and the decisions ahead of you. We can do both, or work alongside the accountant you already have.
Do you work with our existing finance team?
Usually, yes. Most businesses at this stage have a bookkeeper or a finance manager who handles the day to day well and needs senior cover above them. We add the layer rather than replace the people.
Can you support a fundraise or a sale?
Yes. Preparing numbers for diligence, building the model, and handling the questions that follow is the work, drawn directly from mid-market M&A experience at PwC Deals.
How quickly can you start?
Typically within two to four weeks of agreeing scope. If there is a live deadline such as a board meeting or a funding round, tell us and we will say honestly whether we can meet it.
